Meet the Educational Talent Search Team
Working directly with our high school participants and school partners, Sam aims to make post-secondary planning and success as easy and stress-free as possible. It is her goal to ensure that post-secondary education is accessible and attainable for all who wish to pursue it. Sam delivers a range of services to our scholars including post-secondary geared workshops, college tours, community and cultural development, and more.
Over the past 10 years, she has worked in various educational settings throughout the Greater Philadelphia area, as a high school English teacher, school counselor, adjunct professor, and college access coordinator.
A native of Scranton, PA, Sam is a first-generation college student currently working toward her EdD in Higher Education. Outside of work and school, she enjoys playing with her two dogs, hiking, trying out new places to eat, and listening to true-crime podcasts.
Working with our middle school participants and school partners, Jalaneya plans to create an engaging and informative curriculum that will prepare students for their next grade level and help them achieve their goals. By providing a range of workshops, experiential learning opportunities, and more, it is her hope that all students learn about the possibilities and skills they can gain for future college and career opportunities.
Over the past seven years, Jalaneya has worked and volunteered in a variety of educational settings supporting students’ college and career readiness. She has been a student mentor and tutor, an AmeriCorps volunteer working as an education and employment support specialist, and a college admissions counselor.
An east coast native, Jalaneya earned her B.A. in Philosophy and Gender & Women’s Studies from Villanova University. She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Education Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of work and school, Jalaneya enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and learning new hobbies.
Andrea works closely with her Talent Search colleagues to assure the successful delivery of services to our middle school and high school participants. As Administrative Coordinator, she handles many behind-the-scenes operations that keep the program running, including purchasing, record-keeping, communication, and social media.
Andrea has a decade of experience working with Philadelphia K-12 students in her previous role as a school librarian and is a former Weigle Information Commons intern at Penn’s Van Pelt Library.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Andrea earned her B.A. in English at the University of Delaware and M.S. in Library & Information Science at Drexel University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, reading as many books as possible, and doting on her two fluffy cats.
