Computers: Conquer the Suite with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Instructor: Margie Pannell Tuesdays, Feb.3-Mar.17 5pm-7pm
This course will provide hands-on practice to students in several key applications used in the workplace. The course will cover MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Students will learn concepts that can be applied to business scenarios and learn to make effective decisions on when to use each of the applications. Design and deliver professional PowerPoint presentations that demonstrate competency in slide layout, visual design, transitions/animations, and the integrations of images, charts, and other media.
Sociology: Society Unlocked: How the World Really Works
Instructor: Jessica Moulite Fridays, Feb.6-Mar.20 12pm-2pm
This course provides an overview of sociology’s foundational concepts, theories, and methods. Students will explore topics such as social structure, inequality, culture, and social change, gaining a deeper understanding of the sociological imagination. Students will develop the tools to examine and interpret the complexities of human societies and social interactions through critical analysis and engagement with sociological perspectives. This course serves as a foundation for further study in the field of sociology and encourages students to apply sociological insights to contemporary social issues.
Unmute Yourself: Modern Skills for Public Speaking
Instructor: Jessica Moulite Fridays, Mar.27-Apr.24 12pm-2pm
This course is designed to develop skills for effective communication within a variety of contexts including academic, organizational, and professional settings as well as interpersonal relationships. It is a performance course based on the application of the study of communication theory. The goals of this course are to improve the student’s ability to speak before an audience, to listen to and analyze speeches, to interact more effectively interpersonally with others, and to increase awareness of the role of communication in our society.
Classes will run the week of February 2 through April 30.
